New Super Store, Great Western Road, Glasgow for John Sainsbury:
A new super store was built for John Sainsbury designed by Geoffrey Reid Architects and project managed by MACE at the Great Western Leisure Park. It was not possible to provide soft landscaping from within the Car Park area due to a thick reinforced slab covering the site. The slab level gave rise to steep embankments to the main spine road and the site was left finished in a compacted hardcore. The banking had to be carefully treated with blinding material and a free draining topsoil with catchment drains to the pavement.
